Course Contents

           

           General background of Indian agriculture, method of preparation of various commodities for market, general theory of agricultural marketing, marketing functions and services, regulation of markets, co-operative marketing, theory of grading and standardization, formulation of standards/grade specifications, salient features of A.P.(G&M) Act and General Grading & Marking Rules and the executive instructions issued there under; by the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Govt.of India, PFA Act, BIS Act, Weights & Measures Act, Packaged commodities Rules, Sanitary  & Phytosanitary measures, International organization for standardization (ISO) and the Codex Alimentarius Commission, Mechanics of Agmark grading and grading at producers’ level, settlement of grading disputes, review of progress and problems of grading and the promotional steps required to be taken to expand the grading at producer’s level.

Grading practical:- Analysis and grading of the food grains, oilseeds, whole spices, cotton, fruits and vegetables, eggs and jaggery as per the prescribed standards, preparation of standard samples of various commodities, handling of various grading equipments and maintenance of grading statistics and other relevant records.

Study tour:- In order to provide practical training , the trainees are required to visit  various grading, processing and packing centers, agricultural produce  markets, cooperative institutions and warehouses.
